A normal week overall for these days lately. My weekends continue to be rather busy, which for this week proved to be a bit of a drag, considering work was also abnormally busy. Things seemed to calm mostly down by the time Friday rolled around, but it had been trying up to that point, and having the weekend be packed has me feeling a bit like I’m running on empty. I should be okay in general, just a bit run down. Hopefully things continue to calm down more next week and we can go into August a bit more sedately.
Work stuff aside, I finished the second season of Beastars this week and am left … feeling … unsure about it. I quite liked the first season, and the second one started out really promising, but it took some story turns with how it’s been treating its characters, and those turns haven’t been sitting super well with me since finishing it. I dunno, overall the show is interesting, but the directions taken are making me question whether or not I’m gonna be all that excited for a season three. We’ll see, wasn’t terrible. After that, I returned to Voltron, which after Beastars’ bizarre writing directions doesn’t seem quite so much of a mess.
El Señor del Caos continues to be rather enjoyable as I go. I’m glad I decided to stick out the series even as I struggled through the beginning few books, because it’s really picked up for me. I’m definitely taking a break next, though, not just for the next Memorias de Idhún, but also because I got a recommendation on a queer interest book series from a friend called the Locked Tomb trilogy, and wonder of wonders, I could find Gideon la Novena on kindle. I’m gonna finish my current read first, but I’ve been dying for some queer stuff to read for a while now, so it’s next.
Also, after having it pointed out to me as silly, I decided to remove the token amount of tracking I maintained on Duolingo from the weekly numbers, because although I continue to use it to maintain my streak (up to 1202 days this week!), I don’t really use it as a learning tool anymore. The streak continues, but its presence on this blog will not.
Anyway, that’ll do for this week, TTFN.
