So this week’s kinda funky and is highlighting the beginning of some more funk. I had Wednesday off from work and treated it like the weekend, then went back to work on Thursday just in time for a system shift that made work wildly busier, back to how it was last year, and have been told by the higher ups that it’s probably gonna be this way for at least a few weeks. I got through Thursday and Friday as normal, but it was clear on Friday that this isn’t gonna work for my current goal for reading and watching. I made it through, but it was stressful and I ended up sacrificing other parts of my day to do it, and I just don’t have it in me to do that at an extended clip these days.
As a result, come Monday, I dropped my expected goals down on reading. Watching I’m leaving the same, it’s easy enough for me to get through the watching that I do around work, between spending some time waking up in the morning watching something in Spanish and having a coffee, to having something to throw on while I eat my lunch in the afternoon. It slots in well with my day.
Reading, on the other hand, is stressful to get through when I don’t have the time to slot it in around work and instead need to shove it all into my two breaks, part of my lunch, and time just before work. In just the work breaks, I can hope to get through maybe thirty minutes total, which means fitting in an hour the rest of the time. Part of me prepping for work is spending some time relaxing and reading, and when work’s at a more normal pace and there are breaks between calls now and again, that extra hour can get sprinkled in throughout the day pretty easily. When it’s close to back to back for the first six or so hours of my shift, though, before there’s even any time to think about getting some extra reading in, I’m trying to squeeze forty or so minutes of reading into two hours of work time, which just doesn’t work, it’s never that dead. I ended up eating up some of my evening on Thursday and a big chunk of my morning on Monday, and then decided, no, not doing this. Cutting it down by half an hour to where I need to sneak in like ten extra minutes while working, though, that I can handle.
Logistics aside, things continue as mostly per normal. I finished the long series I was watching on Kwillius and decided on Monday to finally break out of this train and watch some regular tv stuff again, so working my way through Kid Cosmic season two. Work on Harrow la Novena continues as normal, too, though with the slightly reduced pace. I am enjoying both so far. Next couple weeks are gonna be odd, because I have some extra days off thanks to appointments and things, plus also the weekend, so oddity of a month. That’s okay, all months are at least a little odd.
That’ll do for this one, though, TTFN.
