An oddball week from the norm, thanks to me taking some time off from work. It’s been a rough couple of weeks for me and I haven’t taken much time off in a long while (I’ve been trying to hold onto as much of my time off hours as I can in the hopes of extending my post-surgery recovery window as much as possible for once I’m ready to go under the knife), and it was getting to a point where I was recognizing that it was taking its toll and beating me up. So, time was available, and I took Monday and Tuesday of this week off to give myself a nice long weekend to try and recover. How restful it ends up being I’ll see for sure as I go into next week, but at the moment I’m feeling like it was definitely a necessity. The more time off I have saved up the better, but not at the expense of my emotional wellbeing. People need breaks from work sometimes.
As a result, numbers are a little low, but overall not too bad. I am still working my way through Voltron and will be finishing it up pretty soon here, with just a couple more seasons to go, and I must say, the most recent little stretch of it hasn’t had a lot of the same problems that the previous seasons had. I’ve heard it doesn’t stick the landing, and now I’m definitely curious to see how it ends up crapping out.
As I usually end up doing on weekend time, I also have been watching a playthrough series by Kiwillius on youtube, one of his older ones. I often don’t mention those youtube shows in these blogs in any real detail, and part of that’s because it feels weird saying things about someone who, like, makes these things out of their house and posts their content to the internet? Like, yeah, it’s entertainment that they’re putting out into the public sphere and it’s up for criticism, but when it comes to Let’s Plays and the like, it feels like what’s being judged is kind of weird to comment about? Like, I enjoy watching Kiwillius videos because he’s actively kinda terrible at games and that sort of entertainment is fun to me, but saying out loud makes me feel like I’m laughing at him, and … I guess I kind of am? He’s inviting me to laugh at him, so watching the videos doesn’t feel weird, but commenting here or elsewhere about his lack of skill feels meanspirited. I dunno, it’s a hard thing to wrap my head around fully.
El Señor del Caos is progressing at its usual very-slow pace, which is to be expected. I am very much enjoying this one, even more than the previous, and am starting to feel like all the kinks that were bothering me have been ironed out at this point.
Anyway, that’ll do for this week, TTFN.
