So after some thought considering last week’s messy weekend making the normal blog untenable, I’m just calling a total kibosh on full-length blogs for May. This week was messy again. After work returned to a normal schedule, I then got curveballed by a deadline that took place on Thursday that made my job uncharacteristically busy for the week. This came to a head on Wednesday and Thursday, and I didn’t get as much reading done as I would’ve liked those days as a result, but that tapered off on Friday, and Monday seemed to be relatively normal. Hopefully next week’s a bit nicer to me. Despite that, progress continues steadily on Cielo en Llamas, which I’m not about a third of the way through. Still enjoying it, though I’m feeling a growing excitement to leapfrog back to the Idhún series next.
I finished Castlevania, which is a show I liked okay enough up to this point, and think ended up having a really solid ending. Not my favorite show by a long shot, but at the end of the day, I think it ended up being pretty solid. Afterwards, I returned to Tangled, which continues to be … fine. Like, it’s cute, there’s nothing particularly wrong with it, the writing is often clever and the art is pretty. It’s just, like, so straight, and I’m bored by straightness, sorry not sorry. It doesn’t help that of the four closest-to-main-characters in the show of main man, main woman, side man, side woman, the only canon pairing is main + main, but the two men and two women have better chemistry with each other and the show would be improved by just having two gay couples. RIP.
The weekend proved to be a bit on the short side again as I alluded to in the before blurb, with my time tied up pretty well both days, and I’m just not going to stress it all that much. I’d like to maintain better consistency overall, as I like having the chance to make big dents in the things I’m watching over the weekend, because it means I can finish things faster, but priorities, y’know? Perhaps things will level off more in June, what with the novelty of being able to see each other again wearing off, but on the other hand, maybe not. I’ve missed people, and I’m feeling like now might be a good time to spread out my feelers into the realm of, like, dating again. Dating would eat up a lot of personal time I’d otherwise spend on this sort of project. I would not be sorry over that.
Anyway, that’ll do for this one, next week we’ll have a real blog for sure as I wrap up May. TTFN.
