Did You Have a Good Valentine’s Day?

In this blog, I complain because I'm single. I'm a pampered bitch, lol.

(This blog is the English translation of this week’s primary blog, which was originally written in Spanish.)

Happy Valentine’s Day, I guess. I can hardly believe it, but a month and a half of the year has already passed. After 2020, the flow of time feels strange, sometimes too fast and sometimes too slow. So far this year has felt fast and, well, a bit dumb. I don’t understand life nowadays, I have no idea what’s going on. And I don’t want to know either.

But, well, life goes on, and I’m trying to look forward. I have things to do this year, I hope. I’ve received the final decree of the petition to change my name. I’m excited (it only took five-odd months to get here), but that’s just the start. I now need to correct so many documents. My birth certificate, driver’s license, passport, bank accounts, etc.  I’m going to be working on it for at least six months. And that’s just for the name change, there are a lot of things to do. I want the vaccine, damn it! I don’t understand how the year is moving so quickly when I feel so impatient. It makes no sense.

Well. I know my life is pretty easy, and nobody likes to hear the complaints of a pampered woman who wants to go to brunch again, but I think my real problem is that I feel a little lonely these days. I’ve been single for a few years, and I haven’t minded. Now, however, I do mind, at least a little bit. I finally feel like I can share my life with another human being, and of course, there’s a pandemic. Figures. That how the world works, right? Bad luck. But, there might be chances to date in the future. Understand why I want the vaccine? Alright, I don’t need to explain why I want that at all.

Anyway, life goes on, and so do I, so let’s look at the numbers for the week. I’m still learning Spanish, did I forget to mention that?

A good week. Monday was different because it was a holiday in the United States, and I only had to work a half day. I read a little, because reading during work is convenient, but I watched more than a normal day. I’ve watched most of Star Vs. the Forces of Evil, I only have one season more, and I like the show, but everyone was correct about the shipping on the show. The romance is lousy (and very straight, which isn’t the problem, but I don’t like it either). I like the characters and settings, and also the sense of humor, but I wish there was more thought put into the relationship themes. They’re more exaggerated than a telanovela, I swear.

I’m still reading El Ascenso de la Sombra, and I’m enjoying it. It’s a bit slow, like all the books in the series, but it has interesting ideas. I’d like to see where it goes. I think after this book, I’m going to take a break from La Rueda del Tiempo to read something different. I’m not sure yet, but that’s my plan now. I’ve gotten a recommendation for a series called Memorias de Idhún, a fantasy series from Spain, and I’m looking forward to reading it. After El Ascenso de la Sombra sounds like a perfect chance, right?

Well that’s enough for this blog, until next time, TTFN.
