A good week overall.  I finished up Gravity Falls on Friday, going for a slightly longer than normal watch time to finish up the last few episodes.  Overall, I quite liked the show, though I think it was a bit uneven.  The second season was much better than the first, in my opinion, and the four-part series finale was better than the rest of the second season, making it a wild conclusion to a show that was slowly increasing in quality.  That said, despite the high note ending, it did feel like it was a bit of a rush to get there (which it literally was, considering what’s known about the show’s production), which ends up making the show a bit on the unsatisfying side.  I would have preferred it were handled differently, but what I got ended up being quite enjoyable.

After finishing Gravity Falls, I decided to take a small break from tv show bingeing and instead do some youtube bingeing.  Daniel San GMR put up an all-day stream a while ago and posted it to a side channel where he didn’t delete it after a week, and I’ve been slowly watching bits and pieces of it day-to-day in order to get things up to the full hour on the weekdays with two tv episodes watched.  Decided to watch through a couple of big chunks of it over the weekend before launching into a new television series.

A series that ended up being Amphibia, which I’ve heard some good things about, but am mostly going in blind.  The first couple of episodes hit the right notes for me to be interested in seeing where it goes, so I’ll likely continue on with it the same as I have been with other television series.  I’ve been enjoying this streak of seeing new series and revisiting old.

Speaking of revisiting old, after a several month delay, the Spanish dub of The Owl House is now available on Disney+, and I came very close to watching that next instead of Amphibia, as I am deep, deep in the trenches of the fandom for it, but I decided to hold off for now.  I’m rather attached to the English voice acting for the series and am feeling kind of reluctant toward the idea of being introduced to a different set of voices to the characters.  I think that feeling will fade a bit over time, but for right now I’m going to hold off on revisiting The Owl House in Spanish.  Fortunately, there’s plenty else for me to watch.

I’m getting toward the conclusion of El Dragón Renacido at last, possibly finishing it this coming week, or early the week after, depending on if something goes funky.  After that, it’s gonna be straight into El Aumento de la Sombra, I think.  I’ve been enjoying the series so far, though there are some usual ‘long-running fantasy series that was written by a man’ stuff that comes through every once in a while and annoys me.  Nothing severe, I had worse moments reading Riftwar novels than I’ve had so far, but enough to make me feel tired.  I’m hopeful it doesn’t get worse, because if it does, I have a lot of books left in the series and will feel disappointed if I end up bailing on it.  Not really a concern as of yet, though.

Anyway, that’ll do for this week.  This year hasn’t proven to be particularly better than last year’s, but it’s certainly wild already.  Hope y’all have a good one and stay safe, TTFN.
