(This blog is the English translation of this week’s primary blog, which was originally written in Spanish.)
I think I’m depressed.
Well, I think everyone is depressed, because you can’t look out the window without getting depressed. This week was tough again. There are protests everywhere, the stock market went down, then it went up, and who knows what it will do next? And of course, I’m waiting, uncomfortably, for what happens next with the coronavirus. Especially with all the protests in the past few weeks. I’m scared, I’m tired, and I want things to go back to normal, but we’re caught in this nightmare together. I need a break.
Writing this blog’s been difficult for me these months. I really don’t have unlimited ideas for topics, and I haven’t wanted to write much about language learning lately. I like and am comforted by this project, but every time I sit down to write, I can’t think about stuff like the most efficient methods to add to your vocabulary, or how to feel more comfortable speaking. I feel a little tone-deaf, because there are people dying in the streets. There are much more important things than this blog.
I know there are reasons to keep going despite that, because I can care about the lives of others and also write about noun genders, you know? But I don’t feel like that. Especially now, while I have to write a entry in Spanish in order to practice, and I find that my heart isn’t in it. I can turn on YouTube or Netflix to distract myself from everything, and I can pick up a book and vanish into a new world, but I can’t load Microsoft Word and stop thinking about the real world.
That’s true in English or Spanish, and I’ve been struggling with my feelings for months. I hope that one day the world will go back to normal again, and I might stop feeling that way. Sometimes I feel like writing on-topic for this blog, so I know that I will write more language learning blogs again, if everything calms down or not, but I’m going to leave this post like this. I don’t think it’s the longest or most interesting blog, but at least it’s an authentic blog. I hope everyone is well, and take care of yourselves. It’s a scary world.

A good week, more or less. My job was busy because of the market and I had no extra time at all. I finished season two of Ducktales this week, and I don’t want to wait for the third. New episodes are out, but none are available on Disney + yet. That said, there’s plenty of Gravity Falls, and there’s also a brand new season of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts on Netflix, so I’m not going to suffer from a lack of episodes.
I’m almost finished with El Bucanero del Rey, which means it’s almost time for the secret project I have. More on that topic in the coming weeks, and maybe I’ll have more desire to write about it then.
Well, that’ll do. Until next time, TTFN.
