A rather standard week overall without much in the way of surprises. I’m currently watching through a longer playthrough from Kiwillius and on Friday and Monday I was feeling like getting through it a bit faster, so I switched up and focused on that for my watching hour, rather than my usual fifteenish minutes plus two episodes of tv. As a result, I’m making my way through the playthrough a bit faster, but at the expense of Scooby Doo Mystery Inc.
Speaking of, the rewatch of that has been … interesting. I watched the show when it was new about a decade ago, and a lot of the things I enjoyed about it then continue to be enjoyable, with the writing and structure episode to episode plus an overarching plot it builds to continues to be well done. In rewatching it in Spanish, though, I’m struggling a bit with the dub. Most of the characters sound fine, but Scooby and Shaggy are both performed in a way that’s pretty grating and makes it a bit of a chore, and this week one of the episodes featured a number of songs. Dubbed songs are pretty dang hit or miss, and I’m afraid to say they’ve been very much all miss so far in this watch. Not looking forward to a few more upcoming episodes that also feature songs. Despite my complaints, though, I am enjoying the rewatch and plan to continue once I’ve satisfied my curiosity with the heavier focus on Kiwillius.
Outside of watching, progress continues doggedly on El Señor del Caos, with the conclusion fast approaching. I expect to be finished in the next week or three, barring anything weird, and being in the thick of things wrapping up keeps it nice and exciting. That said, I’m also excited to take a bit of a breather after it’s done. Next on my list is Gideon la Novena, which came recommended to me a while ago and I’ve been wanting to read, and compared to the doorstop nature of these La Rueda del Tiempo books, should be rather breezy. After I finish, I have an abundance of choices for further reading to decide from, as there are two other books following Gideon la Novena I may have to devour immediately, plus I’ve been wanting to get back to Memorias de Idhún. And of course, I am enjoying La Rueda del Tiempo and am not going to be interested in dropping it. Fun reading on the horizon, here I come.
That’ll do for this week, TTFN.
