A pretty normal week overall. Thanks to the weather taking a turn for the cold and crappy, my standing Sunday plans with my dad got canceled (we’re social distancing, so no inside-the-house, and when it’s snowing, yeah, no, I’m not spending time with him outside), which meant I had a full day of studying then, which I normally don’t get. Small favors, I suppose.
I finished off Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts this week, which had a very satisfying ending. Lots of kids media attempt to say stuff about forgiveness and redemption, but often fall short, which is not something to complain about with Kipo. I’d argue that it ended up having some of the most depth and nuance in regards to forgiveness and redemption as I’ve ever seen in a cartoon. It wasn’t perfect by any means, I feel like most of the main character arcs were actually wrapped up in the second season, leading to season three feeling like the start of a new arc, but the plot was wrapping up the previous seasons. Gave it some wonkiness as a result. Overall really good, though, would recommend.
After finishing Kipo, I then started Carmen Sandiego … and promptly finished it. Didn’t realize the season only had five episodes. Freaking COVID, man. It was pretty good, too, hope more comes out soon. I still have a lot of backlog youtube stuff to get through, but I was enjoying watching some television again. I have Owl House and more Ducktales to look forward to soon, I suppose.
I made reasonable progress in La Gran Cacería this week and crossed the 1/3 mark, so I should be finished with this one in another month or so. This is a good series and I’m beginning to understand why it’s so popular with fantasy fans. That’s something that’s really great about this project overall, I’m getting to things I always planned to read at some point, but never seemed to have the time for. When you’re sticking to lots and lots of dedicated reading, you get around to lots of stuff.
Anyway, that’s all I got for this one, next week I’ll look back over October as a whole with a main blog post. Jesus, October’s almost over. This year’s been such a trip. TTFN.
